Then there is the Ultimate Fat Mac ($34) that offers all of the aforementioned meats. You can add just about anything to the mac & cheese like lobster, steak, crab, chicken and hot dog. Absolute highlights are their mac & cheese and wings. Selections include salads, sandwiches, wraps, burgers, pasta and entrees. The seafood is remarkably fresh and the food is creative and well crafted. They offer an innovative array of dishes and meticulously define their specials by Soup, Grain, Catch, Chef's Special, Game and Desserts. The food at this place is the focus, but they are equally as successful at being a good small bar. I've been here at least half a dozen times since they opened. The food here is exceptional and the beer selection is well thought out and pure quality. The Fat Cat is without question one of the best restaurants/bars in Quincy Center. Ran into some sort of parade in Quincy center after dinner and thought we would be stuck forever in the city, but eventually escaped. The value, service, and food were so good, I loved it and can't wait to get back there. More like a great place to eat that also has good beer choices to compliment that. I am fussy when it comes to beer, but left with no complaints. OK, I wouldn't exactly call it a craft beer bar, but the choices were more than adequate, and they have many bottles I could have ordered and been happy as well. I also drank a Blue Hills IPA, then a Belgian witbier they had on draft. I had the full rack of ribs, which barely fit on the plate and lasted for 2 meals. We had the crab cakes, which were fabulous, and fried dill pickle slices, also very good. The menu has great diversity, as did the specials, and the prices are so reasonable, most entrees in the mid to high teens at most, with many sandwich selections, mac & cheese, much more. After being seated, we were served by a very friendly young woman who made us feel at home. He poured it, then told me, oops, it was Mayflower Pale Ale. The bartender told me they had Mayflower Summer Rye, so I ordered one. Had to wait 15-20 minutes for a table, so sat at the bar. Went for the first time this past Saturday for dinner. Good pick if you're in the Quincy/S shore area. Both of us were really satisfied with our meals. I had the tuna steak (served seared/rare as requested) my friend had the mac-n-cheese with chirizo (their house specialty). Beers served tasted clean and at good temps.įood menu is tight but hits all the right notes: Chicken, steak, seafood, sandwiches, all served with a bit of a twist. I imagine this could be quite stuffed when busy, but was comfortable when I was there.Ībout 7-8 rotating drafts, concentrating on local/regional (Berkshire, Mayflower, Blue Hills),a Belgian tap and a DFH tap. Dining area on the opposite side, with around 12-15 tables. Long bar runs along one side with standing room opposite. So, decided to hit it for an early dinner on a weeknight (Wed 6) and actually got right in. I had been looking forward to try this place for a long time, but had heard that it was tiny and usually packed.
